Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Reiki?

Reiki is a system of natural healing, based on ancient healing traditions from Asia. Reiki balances the physical body system and the electromagnetic and subtle energy fields in and around the body. Reiki came to the West in its present form from Japan. Rei-ki is a Japanese word meaning “universal life force energy.” It has been practiced in the West for about 90 years.

  • How can Reiki help me?

Reiki helps reduce stress, relieve pain, balance emotions, enhance mental clarity, and facilitate personal and spiritual growth. Reiki can accelerate and support the body’s natural healing processes for injuries or other acute illness as well as promoting resilience and wellbeing. It is not a replacement for any treatment prescribed by your medical or mental health professional but can work well alongside your treatment with your doctor’s okay.

  • How is Reiki applied?

Reiki is non-invasive. I use a light touch on your body, or sometimes I place my hands above your body. You lie comfortably on a massage table, fully clothed to receive Reiki.

  • How does Reiki heal?

Reiki enhances the relaxation response in the body, lowering tension. When the body is tense, energy flow is restricted, potentially causing stagnation and imbalance, which can lead to sickness or injury. Reiki promotes the energy flow in your body through the stagnation and restrictions, enhancing relaxation and repair. Ki/Chi, or your body’s vital energy, moves through your meridians and energy centers. The amount of vital energy moving through your body can be dependent on your physical health, your emotions or state of mind. With a freer state of being, more Ki/Chi will flow through your body, mind & spirit, raising your vibration, vitality, and ability to participate more fully in the flow of life.
